Tyler Griffin was a character it was hard not to fall in love with. A NFL star his humility in spite of his skill and fame stood out. Tyler's kindness, loyalty and understanding were glaring, drawing people in and keeping them close. Moments where this character reacted to his vulnerability and exposed his flaws made him that much more loveable in his imperfection.

Sought after Sports Psychologist Rain Connors put on a professional facade even though she was injured by a lifetime of neglect and abuse and blatant indifference. Her ability to face each day was proof of her strength. Those that got to know Rain found infinite reasons to love her despite her attempts to keep others at arms length. Rain was someone who was filled with emotions that festered under the surface waiting to be released allowing her to move on from her past.

Tyler was the key to opening Rain up and allowing her the life she deserved. Their intimate moments were revealing and often heart wrenching. This pair's past history both individually and shared was their biggest obstacle to moving forward in their lives and ultimately they both found someone they could love in a positive way in each other. Inescapable chemistry fueled this couple and helped keep them circling each other even when they tried to cut each other off.

This book was filled with hard choices and dark pasts that at any given moment raised up forcing truths that had long been ignored and which Tijan very capably confronted. There was a lot of baggage to unpack in this story. Genuine friendships and moments of clarity moved this work quickly and emotionally. People at their lowest were boosted by people you least expected for lots of warm feelings.

You never walk away unsure of Tijan's character's deepest and darkest moments. This writer analyzes her characters with extreme scrutiny and they have a complexity to them that moves way beyond surface level. This author's portrayals are often raw and without polish but her works gleam and are so well put together. In My Brother's Enemy history and emotions converge for deep introspection and the confrontation of dark issues for bright futures.
